Description
The SparkFun Distance Sensor Breakout utilizes the VL53L1X next-generation Time of Flight (ToF) sensor from STMicroelectronics, offering high-precision distance measurements in a compact form factor. The sensor uses a Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) to emit an infrared laser and time the reflection, allowing it to measure distances from 40mm to 4m with millimeter resolution. This breakout board is perfect for applications requiring long-range distance sensing with minimal setup. Communication with the sensor is handled via the I2C interface using SparkFun's Qwiic system, making it easy to connect without the need for soldering. For those who prefer traditional setups, the breakout also features 0.1"-spaced pins for breadboard compatibility.
